- new style sheet to reduce visual clutter
15.11.2015
- After 10 years of existence (and an XSS exploit that brought the web-site down for quite a while) much of the site has been re-written using 'modern' technologies, i.e. pdo prepared statements, hashed passwords with salt, htmlpurifier...
- new style sheet & layout (no top banner) to increase area for reading without having to scroll down the page
- most films which were for download have been re-encoded for on-line viewing using HTML5 & flowplayer without Flash as nowadays this is becoming a standard
- post-production of Genesis & Genealogy of the Lindy Hop in France documentary film project again delayed (this is now the 2nd hardware default on all 4 computers since the project was undertaken...). Will be the opportunity to document photorec, rsync, etc for backup & restore strategies
08.03.2011
- Two years on - updated time schedule re. post-production for Genesis & Genealogy of the Lindy Hop in France documentary film project (i.e. postponing release dates). Lagging behind time schedule is due to impact of world financial crisis, moving to yet another country, changing flats, renovation works, ...
- A few cosmetic updates regarding style sheets [for logged in users only]
16.01.2009
- updated time schedule re. post-production for Genesis & Genealogy of the Lindy Hop in France documentary film project (i.e. postponing release dates). Lagging behind time schedule is due to impact of world financial crisis...
10.07.2008
- new section: GNU Linux jottings (was the pretext to sort out my personal notes) does not include tutorials nor an exhaustive list of options to specific programs (aka man) but a selection of jottings for stuff which you may need once in a while and don't want to spend 3hrs finding out how you did it the previous time (e.g. scanning a book, adding a title at the bottom of each page & joining all pages together in pdf format)
- selection of basic commands for Newbies who might migrate to GNU Linux (moving around, copying, etc from a terminal)
- selection of favourite line driven commands from the shell (e.g. converting raw images to thumbnails, renaming files...)
- updated pages re. Genesis & Genealogy of the Lindy Hop in France
[top]
20.06.2008

- narrative breakdown of the 52min documentary DVD 'Pojedynek - The Duel' are now available on-line with more pictures to illustrate the film (will try including some translations of the dialogues for a yet more convincing teaser)

04.10.2007
- the web-site runs now with LAMP [Linux - Apache - Mysql - PHP]
- after much sweating over 600 dynamic links are managed thanks to the use of the database, and some other 200 links are likely to be available by Xmas 2007
- improvements concern not only form but also contents which are now user & profile specific
- while the skeleton is almost finished many files still need being written
- forthcoming sections include Russian language versions of key service such as PTEC, some GNU Linux jottings, and webmastering templates
[top]
15.09.2006
- visible contents accessible on this web-site have not changed for over a year and a half - though via hidden links it has doubled (tripled?) its size...
- all links to secret sub-directories should become more obvious and accessible via adequate logins & passwords in some near future [hopefully before Xmas 2006?]
- existing updates concern the Lindy Hop documentary project [now known as 'Genesis, Genealogy & Mushrooming of Lindy Hop in France'], PTEC [Presentation Techniques under the Eye of the Camera], and many others...
- most films for download are now re-encoded using transcode and ffmpeg's divx5, mpeg4-compliant codec - and usually in better quality too:

GNU LINUX BASH NLE SCRIPTS PROJECTS
- Since a typical 26min documentary project may involve some 400 - 500 odd files, one needs to work out an nle administration strategy; I planned writing a series of scripts (project started mid 2006 but still not had to time to develop...)
1. nle_tree.sh generates a standardised film project tree
mkdir film_project/01assets/tape01 tape02 tape03 etc \
mkdir film_project/02assets_misc/soundfx music OS_interviews stills etc \
mkdir film_project/03intermediate_masters/mpeg1 mpeg2 etc \
mkdir film_project/04uncompressed_masters/dvc.mov jpeg.mov jpeg.avi etc \
mkdir film_project/05releases/film_divx5.avi film_mpeg2.mpg etc \
mkdir film_project/06images/film_vcd.iso film_dvd.iso etc \
I'm still wondering whether to include pre production assets (research notes, scripts, information package for tv producers, budgets templates, etc) and production red-tape (shooting time schedule, authorisations, etc) into that nle tree - this should be more sth like nle_prod.sh
[top]
2. nle_log.sh generates a standardised film project log
history | grep *film_project | cat > film_project.log (followed by sed to get rid of unnecessary data)
ls -shR film_project | cat > film_project_report.log
md5sum film_project /01assets/tape01 tape02 tape03 etc | cat >> film_project_report.log
md5sum film_project/03intermediate_masters/mpeg1 mpeg2 etc | cat >> film_project_report.log
md5sum film_project/04uncompressed_masters/dvc.mov jpeg.mov jpeg.avi etc | cat >> film_project_report.log
[top]
3. nle_bup.sh generates a standardised film project back-up
compression with star -* film_project/01assets 02assets_misc 03intermediate_masters 04uncompressed_masters
splitting archive with tar -*
making iso image
history | grep *bup_film_project | cat >> film_project.log (followed by sed to get rid of unnecessary data)
[top]
4. nle_report.sh generates a standardised film project report in html or pdf
film_project.log (followed by sed to get rid of unnecessary data) >> film_project_report.txt
txt2html (txt2pdf) film_project_report.txt
[top]
5. nle_webadmin.tar.gz/deb/rpm gui php embedded in html (or gui similar to modconf, pppconfig, etc)
open favourite web browser & run the following:
nle_prod.sh - build pre production & production tree with ready to use templates (budgets, authorisations, etc): interactive, default or with saved favourite directories
nle_tree.sh - build nle tree: interactive, default or with saved favourite directories
nle_log.sh - check in real time where your project is up to, launch tasks (eg. transcode to divx or mpeg2) using favourite settings
nle_bup.sh - choose assets to back up, check size expected, decide bup media size, interactive, default or with saved favourite settings
nle_report.sh - generate an exhaustive report re. film project
nle_res.sh - choose assets to restore (including the up-date of Cinelerra's xml edit list), check drive space required, interactive, default or with saved favourite settings
bookmarks to favourite man & tutorials on the web (cinelerra, transcode, mencoder, dvdauthor, etc)
